About
Gina Ornelas

Being a trauma therapist has brought me more joy than I could have ever imagined. I have always been curious about the stories that make people who they are. I consider it a privilege to bear witness to someone’s greatest sorrows and healing moments.  I am very grateful that I get to do this with my life.

I first experienced Eye Movement Densensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a client. I knew on the drive home from that session my life was changed both personally and professionally. In 2011, I was trained by Dr. Philip Manfield and I have been hooked ever since!

I earned my undergraduate degree in Global Studies from Azusa Pacific University in 2004 and went on to graduate with a Master of Science degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA in 2007. I have been practicing in Fresno, CA since 2010.

My other credentials include:

  • Certified Therapist through the EMDR International Association (2013)

  • Approved Consultant through the EMDR International Association (2015)

  • Approved Trainer through the EMDR International Association (2023)

  • Certified Domestic Violence Advocate (2007)

I was born and raised in Fresno, CA, spent my twenties in Denver and Los Angeles, and returned to my roots to start a family. I live with James, my husband of over two decades, daughter Trevi, son Lucca, and two rescue dogs, Lily and Luigi. When I’m not sharing my love of EMDR you might find me catching up with a friend, practicing yoga, singing in the car, watching reruns of FRIENDS, and ever so slowly working on a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Studies.
